About the Author and the Books                                I attended the University of Saskatchewan in 1947-48. I did not earn a degree until 1991. My late-in-life university career made it possible for me to acquire the skills a word-worker needs. In 1996, I became a self-publisher. I am proud of my books and the range of their content – history, commentary, fiction, poetry and satire. Speargrass Specialties is a low-volume publisher, with all editions being produced without the aid of government grants or other subsidies. The venture has been rewarding in satisfaction but not in profits. The difficulties faced by a small publisher in distributing and selling are daunting . Many of them give up. I intend to continue.
